Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about your visit, insurance, and dental care at Harwood Smiles.

Can I book an exam even if I haven't seen the dentist in years?

Absolutely! We welcome patients who haven't had dental care in a while. There's no judgment here—we're just glad you're taking the step to prioritize your oral health. Our team will make you feel comfortable and create a personalized treatment plan.

What happens at my first visit?

Your first visit includes a comprehensive exam, digital x-rays, oral cancer screening, and a consultation with your dentist. We'll discuss your dental history, concerns, and treatment options. Most new patient visits take about 60-90 minutes.

Do you accept same-day or emergency appointments?

Yes! We offer same-day appointments for dental emergencies. If you're experiencing severe tooth pain, a broken tooth, or lost filling, call us at (817) 554-8119 and we'll get you in as soon as possible.

Does Harwood Smiles take my insurance?

We accept most major dental insurance plans including Cigna, Delta Dental, Humana, MetLife, Principal, and United Healthcare. Our team will verify your benefits and maximize your coverage.

What if I'm nervous about going to the dentist?

Dental anxiety is completely normal! We offer a comfortable environment with massage chairs, TVs in every treatment room, and gentle care. Let us know about your concerns and we'll work with you to make your visit as relaxing as possible.

What payment options are available?

We accept cash, credit cards, and offer third-party financing through CareCredit and LendingClub. We also have in-house membership plans for patients without dental insurance. Our team will help you find an affordable solution.

How often should I visit the dentist?

Most patients should visit the dentist every six months for routine cleanings and checkups. However, some patients with specific conditions may need more frequent visits. We'll create a schedule that's right for your oral health needs.

Do you offer teeth whitening?

Yes! We offer Philips Zoom professional teeth whitening, which can brighten your smile by several shades in just one visit. We also provide take-home whitening kits for your convenience.

Are dental X-rays safe?

Absolutely! We use award-winning digital X-rays that emit up to 90% less radiation than traditional X-rays. They're safe, fast, and help us diagnose issues early to keep your smile healthy.
